Until recently, I was reading The History by Herodotus. Now I'm reading The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman. Did I finish the former book> No. But I haven't given up on it. I've merely adopted a new approach to reading it. Rather than reading it straight through, I will read one novel between each book of The History. One possible rationale for this change is that I have many more novels on my "to be read" shelf than non-fiction, so this approach will balance the load somewhat. Alteratively, I could claim that since The History is a unique blend of fiction and non-fiction, it merits a unique approach. But the truth is just that I was tired of The History but unwilling to not finish it. This new approach will let me finish it, eventually. posted at 7:52 PM |
